Classes

We are classy!

We share a world of skills in the magical world of drama class with a curriculum-based programme delivered by a specialist-trained teacher. Progressing through the Class Act curriculum guides children through developing their drama skills and celebrates their achievements. At Class Act, students can experience 13 years of classes without repeating a single lesson. For younger children, watching the children ahead of them move through the curriculum is aspirational. While classes follow a structured format, Sophia keeps them fun and energetic.

Our mid-year Parents' Day Presentation allows you to watch your children perform their new skills. Our end-of-year performance offers every child a part to play in a fabulous finale to their year of drama training.

All classes are 1 hour once a week.

Palmerston North classes are held at PNth Intermediate Normal School on South St, in their Performing Arts Centre.

Feilding Classes are held at Manchester House Senior Centre on Bowen St in Feilding.

What role will your child play at Class Act?

Whether it's a leading role on stage or success in day-to-day life, we help children discover their unique talents and build their skills and confidence. Children with natural talents in performance will find a place to build on their skills. Children with active imaginations will find
new ways to channel and harness their energy. Children who are shy and unsure of themselves will find a place to belong.

What's it like to be a villain, a hero, or a quiet observer? In Class Act's safe and supportive environment, we help children discover new facets of their personalities, grow more confident, and improve their understanding of people.

We make funny faces like professionals, figure out people's behaviour, pay attention to body language, and look at life from different points of view.

We are fabulous, fierce, funny, and fascinating.

'Through Upper Primary and Youth Theatre, I had a place to be crazy and not look like a fool because 20 other kids are acting just as crazy as me!'

Second Act

Upper Primary 9-12 years

Moving up to Second Act Classes is an exciting step for First Act children and marks a change to a more sophisticated curriculum. Your child can leave social dramas behind for an hour a week and enjoy interacting with some real-life drama! Second Act drama class helps
children build on their skills, maintain confidence, and connect meaningfully and positively with their peers. They might play differently now, but drama classes help older children keep their creativity alive. New friends, new challenges, and new skills to master in the same
supportive environment enable Second Act kids to step confidently into this new stage of drama development.

Trinity Exam Classes

This class is specifically to prepare Class Act students for formal Trinity College Drama Exams

Trinity College is a respected organisation based in London, offering examinations designed to help students explore their artistic abilities and gain qualifications. The qualifications are recognised worldwide and have provided entry to various performance careers, public
services, and government roles.

This is serious stuff only recommended for competent, confident students keen to work towards an exam.

Exam students create a wonderful bond with each other, especially those involved in annual exams. Trinity Exam Prep students have achieved consistently high grades in their Trinity Exams, including being awarded Trinity College London Medals for attaining highest marks in the Manawatu/Rangitikei area for Speech and Drama exams during 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Classes usually run throughout Term 2 and Term 3 (depending on the Trinity Exam schedule). While exam preparation is fun, it requires focused work at home and in class.

'My daughter achieved extremely highly in Trinity College drama exams year after year. Sophia's skills and support were crucial to both accessing the opportunity and achieving so well.'
